Israel is suffering from the same rampant financialization of housing afflicting capitalist societies around the world. And, like other suffering nations, it has taken what seems to be the universal response to the problem. That is . . . fiddling.
Or, if you prefer, tinkering . . . making a grab bag of small adjustments to the marketplace, any one of which will have no substantial impact but taken all together may place a society-soothing wet towel across the heated brow of red-hot housing speculators.
