
Here are some images, with accompanying comments, taken during an encampment demolition in Halifax. The next steps, rendered inevitably off-camera, reflect the displacement of former encampment residents towards literally nowhere at all.
Ephemeral alternatives are regularly offered to displaced encampment-dwellers. The classic examples are notional residence in homeless shelters which, oh dear, turn out to be full up, and/or unsafe. Destroying encampments and displacing residents truly threatens basic health and survival of those whose physical security, however fragile, has been destroyed.
